Some of our clients are super nervous about going to court. This is totally understandable. In divorces and family law matters, we are dealing with issues that are personal and can carry a lot of emotion. But what can you do about it if you are nervous about court? Let me introduce the Pink Cloud Method.
Yes, it sounds odd but keep an open mind for a few minutes. See if this is something that can work for you. I ran across this in a novel called How I Came to Sparkle Again. The main character, Jill, suffers a miscarriage and then discovers that her spouse is cheating on her. At one point, she dreads the prospect of going to court for a divorce hearing. Her wise, earthy uncle gives her this advice that I think of as The Pink Cloud Method.
The Pink Cloud Method
“Well, here’s what you’re going to do, Jill. You’re going to go and watch yourself participate in it. You’re going to think, Hmm, isn’t this interesting? But you’re not going to judge it. You’re just going to observe, and by doing so, you’ll be able to see the truth as you’ve never seen it before. It will give you peace. You’re going to image pink fluffy clouds around you in the courtroom. Negative words and intentions may come flying at you, but they’ll hit the pink fluffy clouds and lose their momentum. They’ll never touch you. No matter what comes flying at you, don’t catch it. Step aside and let it fly by. Think of all those words as if they were balls bouncing around the room, like dodgeball. If you don’t catch them and throw them back, they’ll lose their energy and end up on the floor behind you. Go through the motions in the physical world, but don’t participate on an energetic level.”
I think this is actually great advice. Also, if you are very nervous about going to court, please let us know. We will do our best to reassure you and make the experience as easy as it can be.
